Our Inspiration

When someone we love says, “I will love you forever,” what does this really mean? Do they mean that they will literally “love you forever,” even though you both know the human being speaking those words will not–cannot–be with you forever?

Here at The Meaning of Forever Project, we have a theory: That when two souls truly love each other, their love can last forever, beyond the life of one physical body–beyond (if you believe in reincarnation) the life of many physical bodies. At The Meaning of Forever, we believe that love truly does last forever and the stories you can read on our blog help prove it.

Our Mission

The Meaning of Forever Project is collecting stories about how experiences with departed loved ones–human or animal–have helped us heal and move forward in our grief. We also welcome stories of near-death experiences, because it can reassure us to learn how they give the living a glimpse of heaven.

Our Beliefs

The Meaning of Forever Project is founded upon these basic beliefs:

  1. That each of us is Soul, an eternal spark of our Creator;
  2. That we exist because our Creator loves us;
  3. That Love—of the Creator for the created, and of Soul for Soul—is eternal.
  4. That, as eternal Soul, we continue to exist regardless of whether we have physical form.
  5. And, last but not least, that Souls are not limited strictly to human form. Animals are souls, too.

Your Story is Welcome

Our Blog contains examples of the kinds of stories we’re collecting. (Find the complete blog here) Your story may be like one of these; or, it may be about a different experience entirely. But if it’s reassured you that your loved one’s life continues, even after death of the physical body, please send it along.

    • Good morning, Ruth – I was going to send you my own dream experiences about my departed mother, and then got lost in the shuffle of life – lol! If there is still room in your project, here is my story:

      My mother died in 1973 from stomach cancer. Ever since, I have had dreams where she appeared in the most ordinary of circumstances. She would be sitting beside me on a bus, or I would dream of coming home and there she would be, making me tea. In one dream, we both appeared on a totally different world! Yes, there we were, exploring the ruins of an ancient civilization! In each dream, my mother would tell me she was just fine, and show concern about my life – just like any mother would – with all the mannerisms I remember so well!

      Then, some 10 years ago, I had the most extraordinary experience. I don’t even believe it was a dream – it was a visitation. I had just lay down on the couch for a nap when suddenly the closet door disappeared in the most amazing light. My mother stepped out from that light. No longer was I lying on that couch, no – I was sitting up and thinking this is something I need to pay close attention to.

      She came through, smiling radiantly and sat down beside me. She embraced me – I totally and physically felt her arms around me – and asked me how I was doing. Before I could answer, she went on to tell me that she already knew about this problem or that worry I had, and that everything was going to be okay. All the while, I kept thinking to myself that this was so real, so unlike a dream, that there must be a bigger purpose to her visit.

      After spending a few minutes in the mother/daughter banter, she finally told me. ‘I have a chance for a new life, and I wanted to let you know that I won’t be visiting you any more.’ It was almost as though she was asking my permission to depart yet again. I felt overjoyed, and we high-fived each other. A few more hugs and words of advice from her, and she went slowly back into the light, which slowly faded behind her. I was left sitting on the couch my heart overflowing.

      The strangest thing happened some time later, when I dreamed about my ‘mother’. I remembered her visit and her telling me she would not be visiting me any more. I told the woman she was an imposter, at which time she turned into someone totally different, angry at me calling her out.

      Ever since that time of my mother’s visitation, I felt content and comforted with the knowledge that she is continuing her life in reincarnated or ascended form. Most of all, I am deeply grateful for her continued guidance all those years.

      Thank you, Ruth, for an opportunity to share my story. Deep blessings to you!

      • Linda, thank you for this wonderful story! I love the way your mother came to you to let you know that she needed to move on, and how happy you were that she was able to do that. I will keep this story with the others. Thank you again for sharing.
